We shared the honor of Nu-Soul Award for Best Funk Album of 2003 (ours 'Perseverance' - His 'Enter My Mind') and an enduring friendship was born.

Marlon has been creating music ever since he started singing and playing piano in church at the age of five. After graduating from Boston’s Berklee College of Music, the Maryland native moved to New York to follow his dream of becoming a session singer. “As a kid I always loved looking at the recording credits,” Marlon recalls. “Names like Fonzi Thornton, Tawatha Agee, Luther Vandross, Lani Groves, Hamish Stuart, and Patti Austin were always showing up. I loved the sounds these singers created. I knew I wanted to do that!” And so he did. Over the years, he has worked with a wide range of artists, including Sting, Martha Wash, Nine Inch Nails, Donald Brown, Lauryn Hill, Shania Twain, and Bobby McFerrin.

Carlton J. Smith

Singer, songwriter, producer, actor, Carlton J. Smith is often referred to as “Soul Brother Number
New” for his hard-charging R&B act. His widely acclaimed R&B/Soul Revue shows are real crowd-pleasers.

Carlton is a very dynamic and engaging performer with a live show that exhibits both his stage presence and high energy from start to finish. He has been producing, hosting and performing in a series of R&B/Soul Revues every month since 2002 at the world renowned B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. Initially conceived as a one-show deal, his sold out performance inspired B.B. Kings Club to book him monthly for a series of tributes to the music of Al Green, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye & a host of other superstars. He took the same show to The Blue Note in Las Vegas for a four-week run.

In the beginning of 2005, Carlton completed a three-month stint at the House of Blues & Jazz in Shanghai, China. Delivering soul & blues straight for his heart show after show, night after night. After receiving rave reviews in Shanghai, Carlton J. Smith was asked to bring his brand of Real School Funk & Soul to Zurich, Switzerland. He then returned to The House of Blues & Jazz in Shanghai for a four-month engagement from June through September 2006. He will return to The House of Blues & Jazz in Shanghai in Fall 2007.

Carlton, along with his band, “The Mighty Magnificents” is touring worldwide. Carlton J. Smith is fast becoming the International Soul Brother # New, and with his brand of Rhythm & Blues set to be committed to CD, you’ll be able to order some of Carlton’s homegrown Soul.

T-N-T

New York's T-n-T (Trish & Tom) first and foremost are soul mates. The two met as members in the soul-funk band Pryme Tyme (Trish lead vocals, Tom drummer, songwriter, vocals). They write music that is real, funky, melodic, from the soul, the heart, and all else that is good. In 2003 they recorded their debut cd 'Sweet Like Honey', 'Something Good' is the title of their sophomore release. The duo has toured extensively throughout the Southeastern United States and have worked as composers and producers on scores of projects. Their music is always fresh and vibrant.

Sonny Boy

Shel Riser, better known as Sonnyboy, was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He began his musical career in the Baptist churches of Milwaukee, WI. And it was there he learned to play multiple instruments in a more traditional Gospel/R&B style.

Inspired by his Blues singer Uncle, "Sonny Green", a well known musician from Louisiana, Sonnyboy began to explore the music of the blues tradition. It took moving to Minneapolis, MN with only his guitar and the clothes on his back for Sonnyboy to throw himself fully into exploring the forbidden "devil music" of Funk, Reggae, Rock and Hip Hop, prevalent in "Paisley" music scene. After a few months busking the streets of downtown Minneapolis,Sonnyboy quickly earned a reputation as an exceptional musician which paved the way for his acceptance into the Minneapolis music scene. He began working with artist`s under the Paisley Park label,The Parliament Funkadelic Family, as well Mary Harris of Spearhead and countless other Artists. Sonnyboy has shared the Stage with The Black Crows, The Skatalights and performed at venues as prestige`s as the world fames Paisley Park Studios. The pinnacle of his Minneapolis success was being named in Rolling Stone Magazine, as one of the best unsigned bands in Minneapolis. With this endorsement, Sonnyboy moved the band to New York in hopes of finding an environment of greater potential for musical growth. The choice proved to be a
wise one as his perseverance, talent and NY exposure earned him an appearance on BET`s J list, TV ones Get the Hook Up and countless performances throughout the US and Europe.

She has worked alongside many other greats too numerous to mention, which  has given her priceless experience both on & off the road. Her "Sideman" work has taken her international with latin music being the bulk of her gigs in the early part of her career, including a tour thru Puerto Rico & parts of South America. A  2 year stint at the biggest russian club in NYC "The National" was followed by 3 more years on the road w/ the show band "Waterfront" covering the casino & hotel circuit.

The Square Egg

Formed in Miami in 1999, the original band consisted of a mere three members and now contains a cohesive ten-piece ensemble. Inspired by an illustrated book also entitled The Square Egg by British illustrator, Ronald Searle, the musical textures of The Square Egg are decidedly as eclectic as their name. ”Our music is not confined to a specific genre,” explains lead vocalist, Lee. The Square Egg conveys universal ideals that challenge the listener as well as entertain. The band's influences range all the way from Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles all the way to hardcore, no-frills, hip-hop acts like Public Enemy and early Ice Cube.

The lush, live instrumentation of The Square Egg layered against the smooth and unique delivery of their lead vocalist/lyricist, Lee, isn't the disposable music you're accustomed to. The Square Egg's musical collage of funk, hip-hop, jazz, spoken word, and R&B, is hard to categorize, merging sonic elements from such innovators as Spearhead and Sweetback. Immediately you know that you've discovered something truly distinct and original at first listen.

Traciana Graves

Traciana Graves is a very intoxicating young woman. Born in Harlem, U.S.A. she was largely raised in France when the career of her model mother took the family abroad. It is in France where Traciana became immersed in the arts and music. This foundation lead her to become a sought after background singer for the likes of Celine Dion, Steel Pulse, Youssou N’ Dour, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others.

Also, the word about Traciana’s compelling gift to inspire others through lectures, workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions, has gotten out! Angel Rissoff

Influenced by Little Richard, Hank Ballard, Howard Tate and BB King, Angel started singing rhythm and blues on street corners when he was twelve. It would take forever to list all of his favorite singers, but a few standouts are Sonny Til, Nolan Strong, Pookie Hudson, Arthur Prysock, and Billy Eckstine. When Angel was 15, he joined his first band as a bass player and eventually played with the legendary "Grandfather of Rock 'n Roll" Chuck Berry. He was the lead singer for the South Florida group The Kollektion and had his own group called GC Dangerous with Gene Cornish of the Rascals. Angel was the lead singer for the critically acclaimed group Diamond, Angel and Crooks. He has worked with such notable people as Dion, Matt (Guitar) Murphy, Bobby Byrd, Robbin Ford, Darlene Love, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Jackson, Paul Schaffer, The Blues Image, Harvey Fuqua and The New Rascals. He also recorded and played at Carnegie Hall with Cyndi Lauper and was an original member of Little Isidore and The Inquisitors.
