My musical life is a potpourri of different flavors. I frequently digest the works of Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Michael Brecker, John Patittuci & Marcus Miller and contrast it with Stevie Wonder, E,W&F, PFunk and a host of other very weird, out of the box artists! It's all about listening differently for me! more... |

Cliff Barnes Founding bandmate Cliff Barnes helped establish the SounDoctrine Flavor on stage, becoming the first MD and arranger. A born explorer, Cliff never plays the same song the same way TWICE! Early on, he injected the notion that SD would never be defined or boxed in and made it a point to create alternative versions of well worn songs. Listen to "The Christmas Song" from SD LIVE!! or "Incipience" to hear prime examples of what's often going on in his head. The Strings on "Kolorz" and "Under The Shadow" are Cliff's melodic signatures. Cliff now plays regularly with Pieces of a Dream, Trinitee 3:57 & Dave Hollister. After two years of touring with SD, Cliff began accepting calls from popular artsits like Eddie Howard, Daryl Coley & Vickie Winans. When his schedule allows, Cliff performs with SD and is playing a prominent role in the ENDURANCE project as well as cameos on individual SD projects |
